Dave Hughes has been conducting genealogical research since 2000, organizing and compiling evidence-based family research and histories for clients, family and friends.

In 2016, after retiring from a 27-year career in law enforcement, Dave turned a decades-long passion for genealogy into a research business: Argos Investigations. Anchored by a Master's Degree in Emergency Services Administration (2009) and a Certificate in Intelligence Analysis (2014), he successfully completed Boston University's Genealogical Principles Course (2018) and the Genealogical Research Certificate course (2019). To complement his professional education and training, Dave sought and obtained his California Private Investigator's license (#P129127).

Dave's research strengths are drawn from his experience as a police investigator, familiarity with intelligence analysis, and his knowledge and passion for genealogy. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, and the El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society. He has access to local archives and repositories in El Dorado County, Placer County, and Sacramento County.
